Our MSc Financial Technology and Innovation will prepare you for a career in finance, financial technology and related professional roles, with a specific focus on how technology and innovation are reshaping financial services. You do not need to have studied finance or accounting before to study this course. You’ll build strong foundations in finance while developing analytical, technical and critical skills through modules focused on financial innovation, data analytics, digital finance, blockchain, sustainable finance, ethics and regulation. This combination of financial knowledge and applied skills will help you understand the opportunities and challenges created by new technologies in the financial sector. Throughout the course, you’ll have opportunities to engage with industry perspectives through guest lectures and other programme activities. Where suitable opportunities are available and academically appropriate, students may also be able to engage with external organisations as part of their dissertation or project work. The Management School is Triple Crown accredited by AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB.

Minimum 2:1 undergraduate honours degree in any subject. We assess each application on the basis of the applicant’s preparation and achievement as a whole. We may accept applicants whose qualifications don’t meet the published entry criteria but have other experience relevant to the course. You’ll graduate with the knowledge and applied skills needed to pursue careers in finance, financial technology and related professional sectors. The course will equip you with an understanding of the financial principles that underpin emerging technologies and innovations, helping you evaluate how digital finance, data analytics, blockchain, Python, generative AI, sustainability and regulation are reshaping financial services. As a graduate, you will have developed: analytical and technical skills relevant to financial technology and data-driven financial services, including experience with Python and generative AI tools; an understanding of technology-driven financial innovation and FinTech business models; the ability to critically analyse complex financial and business situations; awareness of ethical, regulatory and sustainability challenges in finance; confidence in communicating evidence-based insights to academic and professional audiences.
